Chief Executive Officer, The CEO Connection
Lifelong entrepreneur Kenneth Beck has launched and run several successful businesses. He now serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The CEO Connection. He also operates Beck Enterprises as a conduit for his other ventures, including Member Services LLC, Life and Capital LLC, and RJ Real Estate LLC. Ken previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Beck Office Furniture, which he built into the largest retail office furniture chain in New York before selling the enterprise in May 2004.
At Beck Office Furniture, Mr. Beck increased sales volume by 300%, added three showrooms, and acquired five companies all while developing the infrastructure necessary to handle rapid growth. He sold the company in order to pursue other ventures.
Mr. Beck currently serves as President of the Wharton Alumni Association of New York, where he has transformed the club from an events driven organization with a few dedicated volunteers to a major association of more than 150 volunteers, committed to fostering the career, personal, intellectual and business growth of all 18,000 NY Wharton alumni.
His experience includes work as co-founder, chairman and President of the University of Pennsylvania Student Federal Credit Union, and consultant in marketing and management. As a consultant, Mr. Beck developed marketing plans, time management programs, and non-manipulative sales courses for clients ranging in size from General Electric and Durand International to The Auto Shop.
In 1987, after growing the Credit Union to a nationally recognized full service financial institution with over 135 employees and a market share of close to 30% of its field of membership, Mr. Beck stepped down as President. Currently the credit union provides financial services to a large percentage of the Penn undergraduate student population, affords Wharton students the opportunity to apply the things they learn in class, and provides excellent hands on business experience for Penn students who choose to get involved. It is the only student credit union in the Ivy League. Mr. Beck remains involved with the credit union in an advisory capacity and through its alumni network. The national Credit Union Administration has asked Mr. Beck to serve as consultant to other credit unions and the business plans he developed are now used as the standard for the industry.
Mr. Beck has been active in many not-for-profit organizations including serving on the boards of: the Wharton Club of NY (where he serves as President), the Penn Club, the LI Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Commerce Plaza (a not-for-profit business/education organization). He was a member of the President’s Circle of United Way, and he has been active in the Tufts University Alumni Club where he received the Tufts Alumni Distinguished Service Award. He has also received awards from the CW Post Family Business Center, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the American Cancer Society. In 2000, Mr. Beck was chosen one of the “40 under 40” Business Executives on Long Island by the Long Island Business News.
Mr. Beck received his MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1987 and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University in 1983.
